Re: BlondeByDesire's Bella - Love Being Natural
Morning Ladies,
I hope all is well with everyone. I've been doing good. Adjusting to my new surroundings. Loving life. No job yet, but I'm hopeful and I know something will come through at the right time. I won't settle for anything. So I'm enjoying my time off and spending time with my family. I haven't had a break like this in over 20 years - besides when I had my children and then I returned to work after 6 weeks. I didn't have the 3 month thing mother's get nowadays.
So I'm trying to get back to all things hair - and with that more protective styling. Yesterday, I washed with the carrot shampoo bar that I've had forever ... the results ... not impressed - it sorta stripped my hair - didn't feel good at all. And I had a hard time rinsing it out of my scalp. I had to go back over it with Curls cleansing shampoo. Then I did a DC with AOWC mixed with honey, evoo, and evco. Let that sit for around 2.5 hours. I detangled with DC and twisted each section after detangling with the DC mixture - then applied a plastic cap and my turbie twist on top of that. I rinsed my hair in the twists and let me tell you what a difference that made. I'll have to adopt this practice all the time. My hair was shiney and felt great. I then twisted in small twists which took about another 2.5 hours to complete. I used KBN butter and gel - this combo works the best for my twists - I love it. I have other products I need to use up for this purpose but I never get the same results.
Also on CN the other day I saw a recipe for a moisture spritz I want to try to keep my twists moisturized. Veggie glycerine, distilled water, evoo, essential oil and rose water (optional). I'm hoping I get my twists to last at least two weeks - that's a tall order - because my scalp will be screaming at me by that time, but I'm gonna give it a shot. I will add my tea tree oil to this mixture along with rosemary oil.
So that's what happening in Bella's world.

Your twist and the color is lovely. I am glad you are adjusting to the move, and like you said the right job will come at the right time. Your hair is growing good, keep up the good work.

Re: BlondeByDesire's Bella - Love Being Natural
Good Afternoon Ladies,
Well it's Day 7 of my protective style (small twists) and they are still holding on. Each night I tie them down with my satin scarf and bonnet on top of that and sleep on my satin pillow case (over kill right) I know. Every other day I've been lightly greasing my scalp with Qhemet's Tea Tree and Grapeseed Theraputic Pomade and spritzing with the moisturizing spritz from CN blog last week. I believe I mentioned in an earlier post. On Friday/Saturday they started becoming frizzy but nothing serious, overall they still look pretty good. Anyway I think it's working. Usually my scalp is the first to start screaming wash me, I'm itching and dry scalp starts to form and become flaky. I'm hoping I can at least make it to Friday - that's my goal. If I can then I will wash and DC and retwist.
So Curlies, what's happening in your world.

Wow! Your twist are really holding up well. Are you putting anything on them besides your spritz?
