Transition Buddy..
I'm a fairly new transitioner, last perm was October 23, 2010, and this journey has been a trying one and i'm only a couple of months in. Would it be silly to want a transition buddy?? lol sounds silly but like someone who is maybe in the same transitioning stage as I am that's having a hard time as well with this..?? Idk was jus somethin that crossed my mind..any suggestions or comments are welcome
Re: Transition Buddy..
OMG, That a great idea. I have been without a perm since Jan 2010. I have been just rocking braids, twist and now i have had my sew in for about 2 moths it was for my 30th b-day look. Today I just join the site. And yesterday i just brought my first bottles of kinky curly. I read so much reviews about, so I got it. I plan on taking out my sew-in tommrow and trying it. I will post pics. I just wanted to do something different with my hair. Always permsed my hair and need some personality to my look. I have a lot of hair , but sometimes don't know what to do with it. Everybody think i am crazy for going natural. I have been talking about for months. I have even been think about getting locs, but still undecided. So, I don't mind being your transitioning buddy!

Re: Transition Buddy..
my last perm was in October also, girl yes this transition has been a trying one. And no a transition buddy doesn't sound silly lol... i want to get box braids for a protective style i'm impatience and just want to wake up and have 12inches of new growth so i can cut my perm ends( i know wishful thinking) lol.. i would say that every week that i wash my hair and see and feel my curls give me motivation to continue..

Re: Transition Buddy..
A Transition Buddy is an AWESOME idea! I am 2 months post relaxer and not only do I know that transitioning is hard it is also lonely. This is where we can thank sites like curlynikki.com that allow us women who are deciding to go natural to link up, make friends, and share stories. I'd like to think that all of you are my buddies during my transitioning (: now a personal friend who I can call and fuss to about my braid out looking a mess, THATS the buddy I need!
Re: Transition Buddy..
Ooohhh yayy i'm so excited to get feedback! And since it was just an idea I have no idea how this would work lmao...email? Im? chats? phone? texting? no clue lol
Re: Transition Buddy..
Oooo, is it too late to get in on the buddies?? lol My last relaxer was October 8. I'm planning on staying weaved up as long as possible while cutting my relaxed ends off as I go along. I'm blogging about it as I go too, cuz I know it's gonna get REALLY trying! I've never seen my natural hair before...I'm so obsessed about seeing what it's like lol
Re: Transition Buddy..
i don't know how this transition buddy thing work either, maybe a chat room or something or if we feel like venting we can come back to this topic
@newlynaturelle i love your hair in the avatar, i was thinking to do a curly weave also but wasnt sure how it was going to look or if they was going to be able to put a part with out leaving any hair out... i thought about so many different protective styles that i cant even pick one..lol

@Newlynaturell no it isn't too late and i Love ur hair even tho its a weave lol
@sweetieone..I think since everyone has different schedules and what not, coming back here would probably be the better way to go about it..vent, rant, styles that work and ones that dont..encouragement..product reviews..progress...all that good stuff.

Re: Transition Buddy..
You can do it any way you want the transitioning buddy.. Some people do it according to hair type, lenght of time you been transitioning or just the fact that you are transitioning.. There is really no right or wrong way.. No Chat here I guess you can use this topic to share your trials and issues..
My last relaxer was Dec 12th 2009.. I'm in to share any info that I can and to vent as well.. lol

Re: Transition Buddy..
Can I join in? Wednesday morning after shampooing my hair, I looked in the mirror and did the big chop!!! I cut the remaining relaxer off. I had not had a relaxer since Aug 2010. But i have cut off all my hair before but not to go natural. I will give it a try to see how things go. I can't wait to get coils and two strand twist to see what it is going to look like. Right now I am in the shampoo and conditioner stage. Planning on investing in oils and shea butters. I will keep you guys posted.

Re: Transition Buddy..
Lol @sweetieone yea..ive had my hair shaved before so cuttin it really wasnt a dramatic lol thanks!
Re: Transition Buddy..
Nooooooooo you're not really transitioning anymore, but YAY! you did it! LOL I could never go that short right now--and my bf would probably have a heart attack, so that's a good thing lol
My relaxed hair is about as long as what's in my avatar, so I'm tryin to go at least until the fall before I chop anything, but I'll probably get frustrated sometime over the summer too lol
@sweetieone why don't get a curly weave that matches your hair? that's what i'm plannin on doing when my roots start to really come in

Re: Transition Buddy..
lmao @newlynaturelle...as long as you can keep doin the weave thing and all ur protective styles and wat not you'll last until ur projected BC date or season..whichever you may have. I jus couldn't lol..And I actually love my hair being short..and now that its all natural it's a new new journey for me.
But I hope you guys can continue buddy-ing up lol..

Re: Transition Buddy..
Can I buddy up with y'all? My last relaxer was in December 2010 and I am in the baby stages of transitioning. I could definitely use the motivation and support.

Re: Transition Buddy..
welcome! i'm sure we'll all find some great motivation here. I'm guessing we'll use this thread to come in and vent or get some help from time to time.
Like today, I was supposed to do my first roller set on my transitioning hair, and I'm terrified! Thinkin I might just throw on a pony and call it a day lol

Re: Transition Buddy..
@newlynaturelle Lol why are you terrified??? My cousin has been transitioning since August of last year and her hair is a little past shoulder length and she does roller sets all of the time, and it comes out beautiful.. It has that lil spiral thing.. I think you should try it and see wat you get!
Re: Transition Buddy..
@newlynaturelle i think you should try it too, but do it when your not going anywhere that is what i do. I try styles when i know i have nowhere to go. Or if you don't like it you can put on a hat if you have any or do a French roll. I have been wearing a beanies for the past two weeks or a French roll

Re: Transition Buddy..
Yea that's what i've been thinking...I just gotta find a weekend or a Friday night when I'm not going anywhere. I have too many "important" meetings to go to during the week for me to risk either being late or showing up with hats or crazy hair lol
my life's just too busy !
