Can I use Henna
Hi ladies!
Can someone please help me?? Can I use henna if I colored my hair?? Last Oct. I got my natural hair professional colored (blond- the stylist used bleach to get my hair the color of Beyonce:)..it was flyy!!) Of course my hair was always dry and became damage. In July 09 my stylist colored my hair black(twice- the black did not take the 1st time) because I was tired of the blond hair. Needless to say some of the hair on my ends turned a reddish color and this month I had a black rinse put in my hair and two inches cut. I want to try henna...do you think its safe to use on my hair? Should I wait a couple of months before I try henna?

You know.... i used henna about 4 months after i bleached my hair and it was totally fine- i also have thick hair- fine by high in density...so...i would say to wait a couple of months from your oct. treatment- im just thinking better safe than sorry

can i henna?
thanks for this thread! it is EXACTLY what i've been pondering. in addtion to whether it is safe to henna over color, can anyone recommend an appropriate henna shade for those of us who have lightened their hair but want to go back to being darker and want to use henna? i am intrigued by all of the benefits i read, but am VERY cautious of doing my own treatment - any recommendations for a natural stylist/henna person in the chicago area? thanks much!

Robin Louise- henna usually dyes your hair a red-dish color. You can always try to henna yourself.

Hi there,
it is safe to use henna over color treated hair. Henna in and of itself is simply the dried leaves of a plant which when ground into a powder and made into a paste are used for coloring, conditioning hair and even treating wounds (betcha didn't know that, lol)
If you want to darken a previous color then mix your henna paste with indigo
