Are wash and go's for all hair types?
I'm new to all of this (natural but have been pressing my hair for years), I don't know my hair type at all. I do know that in the front my hair is more manageable. I tried a wash and go last year and my hair puffed up at the roots as it dried. I've been reading about products people use and looking at pictures. The next time I try a wash and go I plan on using Aussie Moist for a co-wash, Cantu Conditioning Cream Shea Butter as a moisturizer, and then Fantasia IC Gel for hold.
Anyway- are wash and go's for all hair types?

WashNgo's are definitely for all hair types. Be careful with the gel and Cantu. Most people get a white residue when using them together.

I agree with NhJ. Just be aware of your curl and not expect something that is not possible. For instance, tight uniform curls when your hair waves or has a looser curl pattern.

I've been natural for about 3 years now and i am just able to wear a decent wash n go. I'm guessing it's due to texture change. It's kinda strange to me.

I am still trying to master the wash-n-go. My hair looks like an old gheri curl when I try to do it. I just do not know how to do it.

Isn't there a specific look to the wash-n-go?

No, that is the beauty of it. There are no duplicates. Shucks, they even look different each time I do them.TriniCherryPrincess wrote:ChrsLvsBks wrote:I agree with NhJ. How did the Aussie Moist go for you? My hair hated it.

I haven't tried it yet. I actually won't get around to trying another wash-n-go for a month. I'm just doing my research now. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I do hope that it works for me though, it sounds really nice.

I agree with Chrs ... it's all about expectations. All WnGs can work on all hair types, but they won't look the same on all hair types. Just embrace your hair and what it does and just keep it moisturized so it will perform at it its best. All the best with your WnG! Be sure to share pics! Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I'm trying to see if I can do a heat-free summer, so I will definitely share pics and share my progress as I go.jcanalena79 wrote:I agree with Chrs ... it's all about expectations. Re: Are wash and go's for all hair types?
found out recently that im trinidadian too!
I love wash'n'go's. theyre the most low-maintenance thing I can do with my hair and a solid reggie of these allows my hair to thrive. the key is a good moisturizer I find. and if you need one, a good styler. just make sure NOT TO TOUCH while its drying or you will get frizz. sleep in a satin bonnet. spritz in the morning, shake and GO! I can get these to last for up to 5 days!

Yay another Trini! I never would have guessed... Well I hope my wash-n-go is a success story like yours cassadie3.
Re: Are wash and go's for all hair types?
Cassadie makes a great point about not touching the drying hair...and that is the reason I cannot get one to last beyond one day. I am always pulling my curls out and letting them pop back. By the end of the day I have a slight halo of frizz all over my head.

Re: Are wash and go's for all hair types?
Putting my hands in my hair while curly will not be a problem for me, I already know.
Questions: Is wash-n-go a trial and error thing too? If there's no particular look then how do you know you're doing it right or wrong?

Re: Are wash and go's for all hair types?
My hair doesn't do WNG's, even when I had a TWA. It gets flat in the back, even if I shake it. Maybe I'll give it another try over the summer. But I have HIH bad.
Re: Are wash and go's for all hair types?
My original trick was after a co-wash I would leave some conditioner in. This kept me from frizzing and puffing up...kept the wet look after getting after the shower.
Now I cowash, rinse with cool water to hold more moisture, apply a small amount of leave in and seal with my whipped shea butter mix( pure shea butter, olive oil, honey, flaxseed gel, aloe vera gel)!!
But the most important thing of all is not to touch it as it drys. They usually last one day, because I havent figured out how to make them last yet.
It really helps to maintain my curls all day

I've been wearing wash n gos exclusively for about 4 years now. The older mine gets the better it looks. I've got the routine down pat at this point! the biggest mistake people make is trying to get their hair to look a certain way, like tring to get curls if you don't have a curl pattern, a wash and go for that person may be a fro. Just let it do what it do!

I love wash n gos especially when I am traveling (like now). Makes life SO simple.
And I agree, you may not get the same look at the time, the key is low maintenance and find what works.
