Newcurlieque
I know it's pretty late but I decided to go ahead and start documenting this journey. What a ride it's been so far. There's not much I can do with my TWA right now but since my big cop I've accepted it and learned to just let my hair do what it wants and we get along fine. My reg is pretty simple, but I've seemed to have turn into a product junkie lol. I must be doing something right cause I've seen pretty good growth. I've read through some of the other threads and I must say that you ladies are great, so supportive of one another and eager to help. It's nice to find a sisterhood like that. Here is a pic of my hair today.

Welcome !!! I'm pretty new myself, but have fallen in love with this board, and this challenge has been a great way for me to keep accountable and learn, and support others. I have a natural hair twin in real life, but even she thinks I'm "overdoing it", lol!

We'd love to have you join us April 3 at 11:30 at Valpianos (sp?) in Chinatown. The DC curly group is meeting. You can check for updates on the Curly Meet Up thread.

Thanks Gals!!!
I have a question so hope you all can help. I was once one of those who was a slave to the hairdresser. I went to the salon weekly. I planned everything around my trips to the salon. I wouldn't go swimming while on vacation (boooooooo) . Had to have the right do for trips to amusement parks so no hair would be out of place. Now I'm so excited because I don't have to be so concerned with my hair. So when I decided to transition I never mentioned it to my stylist, I just did it. I haven't been to the salon since January of this year. Do you think I need to tell my stylist that I've chopped my hair off or just let it be? She has a few natural clients but they get flat ironed. I don't want to put in heat in my hair so I know I will not go back. Plus she once told me that I did not have the right "texture" to go natural whatever that is Just curious about what you may think, no biggie.

Re: Newcurlieque
I found a few pics of my relaxed days. I've always been a fan of twistouts, as you can see below this is a twistout just on relaxed hair. I luuuuuv BIG hair, always have. I always wanted "Joan" hair.
Here is a pic of when my hair started to not quite act they way I wanted it to, I believe I just had a relaxer so my hair was very flat and limp.
So today was a pretty good hair day for me bcuz I really didn't have to do much to my wng. Just spritzed it with a bit of water and that was it. I so cannot wait till my TWA is no longer a TWA lol. I want big hair.

I would just let it be. The comment about your texture would rub me the wrong way and I would be concerned about how supportive she would be.
Re: Newcurlieque
Yeah....that is true.....I will just let it be......thanks.
