I've personally never experienced buildup from henna. You do need to ensure that you rinse your hair really well to ensure you get it all out but buildup isn't an issue for me. I use Karishma Herbal Henna and it rinses out very easily.

I agree with AfrikanLatina, you should make sure you rinse well; I didnt realize I needed to rinse more until I started styling---my hands are now orange lol But hey, I'm learning....
But I imagine that if you rinse well each time, build-up shouldn't be a problem

I agree with AfrikanLatina and LenaJolie.
You have to make sure to scratch (not viciously but as if you are massaging your scalp) to get all the henna out of your scalp. If there is buildup on your hair maybe it is the type of henna you are using.

I've never experienced buildup from henna. I make sure to rinse really well with conditioner (and sometimes shampoo), and that works for me.

What will Henna build up do to you?

Hey ladies! RanRlove, Henna build up won't do anything to you...It's just a pain to have the residue in your hair after rinsing because it doesn't look good and it feels nasty....I agree with the other ladies when they said just make sure you rinse, rinse,rinse...I usually rinse my hair out in the tub until the water runs mostly clear and then I use V05 tea trea therapy conditioner to co-wash my hair and after massaging it through my hair a bit I rinse again...There's alot of rinsing involved unless you have a very fine sifted henna powder and mix it with honey(based off of my experience)...It's not so bad then because it rinses out easy so build up/residue shouldn't be a problem Hope that helps some!

I read in this link that henna is permanent and can't ever be completely rinsed out even if it feels that way and builds up like cement. Everyones hair is different though...

@alove16 - Wow! I have never heard of henna building up on hair like cement. Oh well! I like it a lot anyway and if this is the case, then I'll just shave and start all over again. LOL!
