Dry, Chapped & Peeling Lips
You guys, this winter is doing a number on my lips! They have been dry, chapped and peeling like crazy. Carmex is what I usually use but its not working. I've tried Neosporin Lip Health and Chapstick but they dont work either!
HELP YOU GUYS! I just bought a new lipstick from MAC and I cant wear it for 10 mins before I have to wipe it off due to my lips peeling!!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Rub honey on your lips and let it sit for a while then wipe it off with a damp cloth. It helps get off the dry dead skin and makes them soft after...oh and it tastes good too lol.
Shea butter does also work. you can put a small amount on before you apply your new lipstick. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Maybe you are dehydrated. When I'm not drinking enough water my lips start to dry out. How much water are you drinking daily?

Yeah girl, it might help. I know this is extreme, but when I was sick with a stomach virus I wasn't eating or drinking much of anything and my lips were sooooo chapped. It was ridiculous! When I went to the hospital, they hooked up me up to an IV. The doctor said that just by looking at my dry, chapped, lips he could tell I was dehydrated.

ooohh gurl tell me about it, i was just thinking the same thing last night, that lets me know i am not drinking enough water. also gently exfoliating with a warm wet wash cloth, or tooth brush after brush, then apply balm, let it soak in before you apply lipstick

@bajanprincess82... Wow, that is amazing how he could tell just from your lips!
@lexibugg004... I cant wait for the warmer months! Thanks for the advice, do you think a lip primer would work or would that be geared more towards the lip color not fading rather than moisturizing?

Re: Dry, Chapped & Peeling Lips
i drink a ton of water (minimum 2-3 liters) a day and MAC lipsticks (as well as most lipsticks) make my lips super chapped!!!
the only way I can stop it is by ALWAYS putting a light layer of some sort of moisturizer underneath (shea butter, chap stick, any kind of moisturizer that you would use on a normal day sans makeup)
I know that kind of lessens the color pay off but it really helps!

I agree with the ladies on Drinking water. I find that when I do not drink enough water it goes straight to my lips and my lips start peeling, cracking, and I sometimes get the powder doughnut look if I don't pay attention. Drink Drink Drink WATER!!!

Re: Dry, Chapped & Peeling Lips
i believe primer are to prevent fading, but dryness with a primer is a common issue so you should be able to find on that is also moisturizing!!!! my crusty lips are the main reason i don't do lipstick!!! I can't live without my Vaseline Intensive Care Lip Therapy Balm. Keeps my lips moisturized all day. I love to wear it under my lip gloss.

Drinking a lot of water helped me also and the toothbrush method. I also use burt bees wax lip balms and that works well. The oyin handmade honey sticks are good too. I will definitely be trying some shea butter though!

Re: Dry, Chapped & Peeling Lips
In just the couple days since posting this topic, my lips feel soooo much better. I've been drinking alot more water, using a toothbrush to exfoliate and moisturizing with shea butter. It works wonders!
@hollis...I went out and bought the Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm and its works really good as well! Thanks for the suggestion!
