Boar Bristle Brushes Are BAD!!!

Post by Janique on 10th February 2010, 12:57 pm

Found this link where a trichologist explains why boar bristle brushes are not good for your hair. I used to think they were ok!

I looked at the whole thing but she said a plastic brush with these smooth balls on the top.... I guess the Denman brush should be ok....and she said you can use a rat tail come to smooth the hair as well....

Did anyone see how her hair looked after "smoothing" it with the rattail comb? It looks like she just did it with her hands. When I wear a puff, bun, or ponytail I like my hair to be smooth and wavy, not puffy....I'm going to have to stick with my boar hair brush.

Some of those brushes in the wrong box looked kinda scary to me and this is coming from a daughter of a hair stylist, lol!

plastic brushes with little balls at the the ends of the bristles, snag and rip out my hair. i have used natural boar hair brushes all my life without issue, but i only use it turned slightly on its side to gently smooth the very edge of my hair.
