Results of my cut
I just cut off an inch of damaged ends off of my hair. I began to realize that trying to trim my damaged ends off little by little every few weeks was not working and I needed something more drastic. At the point
that I did it I was actually aching to cut my hair because my ends were
too far gone.
I blew out my hair. Not for any particular reason, but because I had bought a blow dryer at the same time I bought my cutting shears. Then I moisturized my hair, twisted my hair in medium sized twists and snipped the ends as I finished each twist. Then I went back and dusted the ends again.
Results: I noticed right away. I unraveled the twists for a twist out and my hair unraveled so easily. No snags on other hairs or hairs pulled out of my scalp which I was mistaking for sheded hairs because the bulbs were still on them.
My hair was super soft. I went to a party and spent most of the night playing in my hair. Usually by that point in the night my hair would be completely drained of moisture which I chalked up to the cold weather but it was most likely the damaged ends sucking the moisture from the rest of my hair.
In the morning I co-washed my hair. First, I was able to finger comb my hair without any snagging or getting my fingers caught in my hair. It was virtually impossible for me to finger comb before. And when I used my wide tooth comb I barely had any sheded hairs. Only what I assume were some residual hairs from the cut.
When I moisturized my hair, I saw a big difference in my hair texture. I could clearly see my 4a/3b texture in the front. The damaged ends were making me believe that my hair was a lot more coarse than it actually is. I think I'm still 4b in the back by the feel.
I moisturized with a detangling spray, evoo and conditioner (Chicoro method) and put my hair back in twists and pinned those twists into an updo. Then I went out to a meeting and then to the grocery store (bought some coconut oil). And eight hours later my hair feels just as moisturized as when I first did it, when before my hair would be feeling dry and brittle and as I said before, I was chalking it up to the winter air.
And it was overall my hair is 100% more managable and completely easier to handle in a more gentle manner. I was finding that I was loosing a lot of hair due to what I thought was shedding but it was actually hair being ripped out of my head. And I'd wonder why I'd detangle and then just come back to comb through and get almost the same amount of hair lost.
I'm only a little bit sad about the length I lost. But
I've been reasoning that my attempt to feign arm pit length was really
nothing but dead dry hair that was causing more problems than actually
giving me the long pretty hair I want. And now I'm not obsessed with my length as I was before. I have no idea how long my hair is now and I'm really not caring at the moment. I just want to focus on keeping my hair healthy.

My hair before. I don't have an after pic because my hair is up now. But just imagine this with an inch or so or damaged ends cut off. lol.

Re: Results of my cut
How long have you been using the Chicoro method? I have started to do it. I started about three weeks ago, I think.
Re: Results of my cut
I've only been doing it for a few weeks myself.
But I think my hair likes it. Especially now with all the dead ends gone.

Re: Results of my cut
You moisturize with a water based product then you add an oil based product on top and then an emulsified cream on top of that.
I don't want to be rude or anything, but I made this topic to talk about my cut not the Chicoro method so can the topic stay on that please?
