Real Estate
Are any of you curly sistas into real estate? Do you just have knowledge of what the do's and don'ts of buying a home are? Please share your knowledge here.
My hubby and I are looking to be first time home buyers in the near future but we know we have A LOT of research to do. We've been browsing the internet looking at foreclosed homes and some of them are so gorgeous, ONLINE. Of course we wouldn't base our decision to purchase a home on a picture we found on the internet because we have heard some of the stories about what people do to their homes when they get foreclosed on.
What advice could you offer a first time home buyer?

Re: Real Estate
I have been in my home for 2yrs prior to buying I LIVED on www.bankrate.com
Keep your eye on those interest rates! We were fortunate to lock in at a rate so low that it hasn't been that low in a loooong time.
Also, don't limit your search to homes that are in your price range. It's okay to look at homes that are a little over because you can bid lower than the asking price.
Try to get a home the comes with a home warranty. You will be surprised at the number of things that can happen. In two years we have had a trampoline blow onto our roof, broken AC unit, frozen/busted pipes, and recently broken heat. Our home is only 10yrs old. God kept us and we got every fixed super low or free of charge.
Check out the area you are looking in THOROUGHLY. If you plan to ever move again you want to have a home in an area that is desirable to live in.
