HELP HENNA IS MAKING ME BLACK!!!!

HELP!...

I've been using henna for a while now about 5 months. My color just keeps getting darker and darker im almost a blue black now...
I currently use Jamila Summer Crop 2009 from Bars and Butters. I use to mix with olive oil, honey and one egg but for the past few months i mix with lemon juice (about 4 lemons) water, and paprika..Please help me i want the red that all my natural friends have...

BTW...I was waiting on my mail order one day so i used Goorej Nupur Henna it has Brahmi, Amla, and Bringraj in it could this be why??

Godrej henna usually has indigo in it... the amla does tend to "brown" out the hair moreso than plain henna pastes..

That may be why.. how many times have you used the Godrej brand? You may want to take a break from henna-ing and let it fade at bit (6-8wks) then use Yemeni, or Rajasthani henna and spike it with lavender essential oil and your usual additives.

other red-promoting additives you may want to try (reduce the lemon juice a bit if you add these)
** beetroot powder
** hibiscus powder (amazing red glow!)
**i see you use paprika already. Maybe try a hibiscus or raspberry tea in lieu of plain water and keep the paprika (1-2 tbs)

Just used the Godrej the one time my usual us Jamila. I will give you recommendations a try.

Ok so i tried the Organic Hibiscus Flowers from Butter-N-Bars and still nothing i used half the bag boiled it in lemon juice and water added it to my henna (Jamila 09) and still hair is BLACK! BLACK! BLACK!!

How long have you been using the Amla? It is known to darken hair.

perhaps try something different.. add 2 tbs of cinnamon or honey to your deep conditioners. These have a lightening effect on the hair and have low but noticeable peroxide-like qualities.. doing a trt weekly over 4 wks you should see your hair color lightening a bit. when you note a definite brown tinge, then i would resume the Jamila henna, adding

1-2 tbs Paprika
1 tsp each of hibiscus powder and cardamom powder
and using a tea like Celestial Seasonings red zinger (steep bags overnight)
