Holy Grail Products, and Routine Empty Re: Holy Grail Products, and Routine

Post by herlucidsKy 24th October 2009, 11:02 am

Its really hard for me to stick to a regimen lol...I dont do these things as much as I would like but whenever I do here it is:

COWASH-

1. Aubrey Organics White Camellia conditioner. (Best detangler!!)
2. V05 Tea Therapy Clarifying conditioner.(Best cheap conditioner!!)
I wash and detangle with conditioner when my hair looks and feels thirsty but not dirty. I don't cowash as often as I would like.

SHAMPOO-
1. Giovanni 50/50 shampoo
I only shampoo my hair when its really dirty and that can be 1x a week more or less. I wash my hair in 4 or more sections to avoid tangles while only focusing on my scalp then gently glide my hands down the rest of my hair.

CONDITIONER-
After every wash I condition and detangle in sections on soaking wet hair with my trusty Aubrey Organics white Camellia ultra smoothing conditioner and wide tooth comb and sometimes the denman brush or conair detangling paddle brush, but not necessary. *(be VERY careful when using these brushes, may not work for everyone. I only use them after combing to get rid of shed hairs).

DEEP CONDITIONING & PROTEIN TREATMENTS-
I switch it up sometimes depending on what's available;
1. Eggs, mayonnaise and olive oil. (Deep conditioning protein treatment)
2. Aubrey organics GPB conditioner ( Light protein treatment).
I deep condition when I feel like it or when my hair really needs it, no specific time. But truthfully I don't do this as often as I should :/...

LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER-
1. Giovanni direct leave-in
2. Africa's best leave-in liquid hair mayonnaise-(this is a great detangler)
3. Oyin handmade honey hemp conditioner(also a great detangler). Used rarely due to price and availability.

MOISTURIZERS-
1. Qhemet biologics Amla & Olive Heavy Cream(My favorite!)
2. Unrefined Shea butter and or olive oil.
3. Giovanni direct leave-in.( I mix it with water in a spray bottle)
4. I sometimes mix aloe vera juice, any of my leave-ins, olive oil, vegetable glycerin, and water in a spritz bottle and I use that to re-moisturize my hair at least 3x a week depending on the weather.I think it sometimes help in reducing tangles and bring out the curly curls.

OILS-
I always add oils to seal in my leave-ins/moisturizers.
1. Coconut oil. (awesome for shine)
2. Olive oil. (My favorite)
3. Wild growth oil (when hair is straight).

STYLERS-
1. I would sometimes use my leave-ins alone as stylers.
2. Olive oil eco styler gel (with a leave-in)
3. Fruit of the earth aloe vera gel or olive oil eco styler gel with olive oil or shea butter.
My hair is in a bun 98% of the time, I do braidouts and wear hats. I'm really lazy with my hair.

Hair type- I'm transitioning but my natural texture is 3c/4a mix? i'm never sure..

Shampoo(s): Pureology NanoWorks, I can't remember the last time I used shampoo but if I do this is what I use because it's Sulfate Free.
Conditioners: For Co-Washes I use either Pantene Curls, HE Hello Hydration, Suave Tropical Coconut, Chaz Dean Fig Cleansing Conditioner
Deep Conditioner: Design Essentials Stimulations Moisturizing conditioner (it tingles LOVE IT) mixed with coconut or olive oil
Deep Treatment: Design Essential 6n1 reconstructive conditioner
Leave-In Stylers:Design Essential HCO leave-in conditioner, Mixed-Chicks leave-in conditioner, foaming wrap lotion
Hair Type: If I had to guess I'd say 3c/4a (I don't really know. My hair curls tremendously if I spray leave-in conditioner on it)

ROUTINE:
Once Per Week, Usually on Saturday mornings:
-Co Wash
-Apply Design Essentials Stimulations Moisturizing Conditioner and either EVOO or EVCO. I always detangle hair as I apply conditioner
-Sit under hair steamer for 45-60 minutes
-Rinse conditioner out of hair
-Apply Mixed chicks leave-in all over hair
-I then spray a foam wrap lotion on my hair that is diluted with HCO leave-in conditioner
-I rod set my hair
-After I have all of the rods in my hair I spritz hair with Proclaim Spray on Glosser.
- Let air dry for about 30 minutes
-Sit under hooded hair dryer for about 45 minutes
-Remove rods and separate each curl into
-End result, really nice curly set

Every 2 weeks:
Apply extra virgin olive oil to hair on Friday night
-sleep in a plastic cap
-Repeat weekly Regimen

Monthly
Add the Design Essentials 6n1 reconstructor to my weekly regimen

Every 3-4 months
Go to salon to get hair trimmed

Shampoo: I change up monthly, but always seem to come back to Elast QP conditioning shampoo

Conditioner: Have tried too many to name them all, but the most memorable would have to be Giovanni-50/50, Suave-Curls, Herbal Essences-Hello Hydration, and Naked Naturals-Citrus/Keratin

Deep Conditioner: Elasta QP-DPR 11, ORS replenishing pack, and Olive Oil

Leave-In: Sheamoisture-Shea butter leave-in conditioner and coconut oil

Treatment: Aphogee-Keratin 2 min reconstructor

Routine:
I shampoo wash and deep condition weekly. I use the aphogee twice a month as needed. Depending on the weather and how I feel, I co-wash 1-3 times weekly. After washes I apply the shea butter leave in and seal with coconut oil. I wear this as a wash n go during the day and add a small amount of gel if i want a more defined look, which is rare. At night I do chunky twists (8-12) or braids (4-6).

Shampoo(s): None, I use baking soda or brown sugar mixed with a conditioner as a scrub.
Conditioner(s): Suave Naturals, Suave Humectant, Elucence Moisture Balancing, Curl Junkie
Hibiscus & Banana Deep Fix, Coconut and Castor Oil as a sealant.
Deep Conditioner (s): Henna, Olive Oil and Honey, Elucence Moisture Balance, Curl Junkie Curl Rehab Moisturizing Hair Treatment.
Fotki/Photobucket: http://members.fotki.com/joycurl/about/
Hair type: 4ab

Routine: Every two weeks I alternate between an overnight henna treatment and an
overnight hot olive oil and honey treatment. I then co-wash with a cheap conditioner mixed with baking soda. I detangle with Elucence, top with Curl Junkie Curl Rehab, apply a heat cap for an hour then rinse with cool water. Apply leave in, seal with an oil, then style with a gel and create coils on wet hair. I don't do anything to my hair during the first week. During the second week I separate my coils each day and apply coconut oil as needed. So by the end of week two I have a nice curly fro going on! I sleep in a satin cap to protect my hair. By Saturday night/Sunday it is time to start all over again. The entire process from the co-wash (including the heat cap, shower and dressing time) usually takes me 3 hours.

Shampoo(s): Aveda be curly shampoo( diluted and mixed with bio-fen shampoo) every four days
Conditioners: I have to wet my hair everyday! always! never have second day hair:( so i detangle with mane n tail mixed with Live clean wave conditioner
Deep Conditioner: Aubrey organics island, honeysuckle, or swimmers conditioner
Deep Treatment: After i shampoo I use this stuff it has been an awesome product : Macadamia healing treatment deep conditioner mixed with its healing oil serum! shampoo days are good days now! I use to have the major dryness after shampooing for about 2-3 days but not anymore and i only leave the stuff in for 10 min!
Leave-In Stylers: Mixed-Chicks leave-in conditioner, or i have found a combo thats very similar to this once mixed :aveda be curly leav in mixed with herbal esences body envey gel! hands down the best gel i have used fights humidity and no heavy crunch! gives volume! For natural stuff the oyin whipped pudding is kick butt!
Hair Type: can vary depending on product using products with protein gives curl boost i would say a 3c but fine
ROUTINE: i do the above
I used to do the CG method but I love the feeling of having a fresh start if i return to it its gonna be deva curl all the way! But im realy liking mixed chicks plus its more accesable for me than devacurl. my hair loves protein an i have tried deva no poo this stuff rocks! most conditioners/ CG method have left me always over conditioned. So shampoo was re- introduced and I just make sure I have realy good deep treatments! all is well now!

I also oil my scalp the night before I shampoo with Morrocan method brand oil mixed with emu oil, and rosmary and sage essential oils for growth!

Shampoo/ Cleanse: Giovanni tea tree, TJ nourish, ACV rinse, Calcium bentonite
Cowash - TJ Nourish
Conditioner: HE Hello Hydration, TJ Nourish
Deep Conditioner: Lustrasilk Mango & Shea butter (have a 5lb jar), Jessicurl WDT, Pantene relaxed and natural, AO Island Replenishing, Henna

Deep Treatment: Cleanse or Henna, condition and detangle in the shower, apply a heaping amount of deep conditioners, don a shower cap,and leave in overnight (if no henna) or all day under a head wrap (If I henna) then rinse, do a final tea rinse and apply leave in conditioner

Leave In Conditioner - Mop Top daily conditioner (not the leave in) GVP the conditoner, GVP conditioning balm, HEHH, Garnier Frutise Sleek & Shine leave in

Styling Products: KCCC, Flax seed gel mixed with Aloe Vera Gel, Ecostyler, SMSB leave in

Oils/ Sealers - Castor oil, QB OHHB, EVOO and coconut oil

Moisturizers - QB Burdock root, QB AOHC

Hair type: 3c/4a

Routine: I Clease my hair (poo, ACV, or CB treatment) once a week followed by a deep contioner, I detangle, rinse, and then use a tea as my final rinse. I henna when I am not being lazy. I can henna every week for a month then not do it for 2 months so it just depends on my mood and if I have the time. I apply my leave in and moisturizer. I then let it air dry at least 80%. I then shingle in my styler on damp/dry hair and seal with castor oil or QB OHHB.

I scrunch in a moisturizer every night and use some sort of light hold mositurizing styler to smooth out frizzies (currently using QB honey bush tea gel) and sleep with a satin scarf. In the AM I fluff and scrunch in more moisturizer.

Right now I am trying to add in a additional co wash and deep treat into my regimine for the winter. We shall see how that goes.

Shampoo: Baking Soda mixed with Herbal Essence Hello Hydration. This combo cleans my scalp beautifully without drying my hair out.

Conditioner(s): Herbal Essence's Hello Hydration, Suave Naturals Coconut (if I need some protein), or Green Apple

Leave-in/Styler (s): Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine, Coconut Oil, Fantasia IC Olive Oil Gel

Deep Conditioner (s): Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine, Coconut/Olive Oil
Fotki/Photobucket: None
Hair type: Tiny Slinkys, very fine strands. I believe this is somewhere in the 4a region.

My new routine which I'm liking is:

Shampoo: 1ce monthly
DC: 1ce weekly
Twist: 1ce weekly with leave ins and stylers
Twistout: Weekends
Moisturise: nightly
Trim: S&D as needed

My hair is shiny and sooooo soft. I really need some kind of willpower, because I just can't keep my hands out of it! Right now my ends have started unravelling a bit, so I just keep picking up a twist and stretching it out, boinging it back, rinse and repeat. I love my hair so much!

I didn't realize how much my regimen has changed...I'm sure this is not the last change.

Did you start using the Suave Humectant yet? I've wanted to buy it for a while not but I'm hesitant because I haven't heard of anyone else using it.

So far, the only HG products I've found are:
Shampoo: shea moisture moisture retention shampoo
Conditioner for co wash: trader joe's tea tree tingle
Rinse out conditioner: aussie moist
Leave in: kinky curly knot today
DT: henna
still experimenting with the other categories, but I got some hopefuls for the list.
