Splits in middle of strand of hair

Post by Life.of.Riley on 28th March 2011, 2:40 pm

Hello Ladies,

I don't know what causes this, but I get splits in the middle of my strands and not as much on the ends. If you would imagine a sewing needle, my hair would be the needle and the split would be the eye. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Does anyone know how to prevent this. Thanks in advance.

I use to get these from bunning and having a ponytail too often, especially if the band was too tight. I changed the type of band I used and didn't do a very tight bun/ponytail. Sometimes I would dip my scrunchii in JBCO or something and that worked very well.

Aw man, say it ain't so! I just started doing bunning to protect my hair. Guess I gotta try something else.

@Tiff. Do you stretch your hair prior to putting it in a bun? Send us a pic Smile

I don't stretch it per se'. I go into a bun or puff from an old tnc. This was my last one:

I put my hair in a puff then twisted and pinned sections of hair to get that look. Its looks kinda big in this pic...

Thanks Tiff...my hair is not quite long enough to get into a full bun, so this gives me something to try until it gets longer!

No problem! I will be further experimenting with my faux buns. I will let you know if I figure anything else out!

Ambitious_Tiff, I love the bun. I am going to try that when my braid out gets old.

Thanks Makeupvixen for the tip. I will start dipping my ponytail holders. All I wear are ponytails and buns.
