I did my latest BC on July 4th. All the way down, looked good until it started to grow. The patches of gray were all over the place and it made me look unkempt. There seemed to be no reason or control to it. I colored it, and as usual it didn't last very long, looked worse and I was just not happy. Then I decided to try to band the hair and put in crochect braids. This worked well, a look I liked and people said it made me look younger woot! Then I read about henna & indigo for strenght and color so off I went. No problems with this, the henna really grabbed onto the grays but the indigo colored everything well. Left the indigo in for 45 min., next time longer to get deeper color. HOWEVER! The banning caused breakage around front edges. I think it was because I wore a scarf or headband to keep if from falling forward as I did my daily stuff. Now, do I cut it down again, or do I just wait for it come back in with some TLC? I am so mad at me. I want those braids as I really don't know what to do with my hair as it is. Over 50, not long enough to braid, twist or coil; or I just don't know how. The hair on lower sides reaches my ears w/o streching. Easy to see how it's grown, so starting over is not what I want to do. http://images45.fotki.com/v148/photos/0/1760980/9570484/BigCop-vi.jpg

I don't have too much advice, but I have heard that castor oil helps stimulate growth in thin places, I have used it on my daughter and I think it may help some. Other than that I would just use TLC with the edges. Hopefully someone else will chime in with more advice.

Your skin is flawless! And you say you're over 50? What's your secret!? I say leave the braids alone until your edges look better. If you keep getting braids then you risk ruining your edges for a long long time. Have you tried wearing a wig until you're more comfortable with your length?

Thank you Nali, 53 and far from flawless. I don't take good photos but anyway. I am good with what I have, I just don't know what to do with it. Main issue is that I really like it close, it is so freeing and that might be where it ends up. My husband is very ole school and will expect me to pick and what not; he'll be looking for the "fro" I was sporting in '75. He also likes it really short, but after 33 years I can get him to like anything. Been doing the wig for the last few days and will until I make up my mind about a trim. I don't know if it's just really uneven growth or if it's from something else. I do use castor oil about 2 times a week as I have always been really dry and it gets soaked up. I spritz couple of times a day with a water, conditioner & oil mix. Will keep you posted.
