Hair color Empty Hair color

Post by prettyporsche_ 12th March 2011, 5:06 pm

I have a twa (a little over 7 months post relaxer) & I'm going to my natural hair stylist for a color treatment. I want to know should I get all my hair dyed or just highlights. Which would look better?

Maybe all over color. I personally think highlights might translate better on hair that has a bit more length.

I agree. Highlights on a TWA may come out more like spots.. which is cool too! lol.

When I colored my hair, I didn't have any damage. The only noticeable difference was that my hair was much dryer than usual for about a week, so I'd recommend three things:
1. If you end up doing it yourself at home (which is usually cheeper, and not hard to do if you're coloring your whole head), most color kits come with some sort of revitalizing conditioner. The directions usually tell you to only use some of it after rinsing the color out and saving the rest for the next few times you wash your hair. Just use all of it immediately after rinsing.
2. Do a strand test in the back of your head so you can have an idea of how intense you want the color and how long you want to leave the dye in.
3. DEEP CONDITION much more often than you usually do for a few weeks following your color treatment.

Defintely all-over. if you do highlights you will have a polka-dotted head!!! LOL And it would look better as it grows out but that may take some time! I remember a friend from grad school got her hair highlighted and i made fun of her cuz she had spots all over her head!!! LOL I didn't know then that it was high lights. But as it grew out it was very cute. However, she was white and her hair seems to grow quite fast. Not sure how fast yours grows so.... good luck!!
