Short~n~Sweet...Journey of Natural Goodness
[b] Hello Ladies...I've been a frequent visitor of CN.com for quite some time now but I havent officially introduced myself. Or shared my journey for that matter...
First off let me say...that you ladies are a inspiration and i love reading your post day after day. I've been 'natural' my whole life. My mother refused to give my unmanageable tresses a perm. She realized it just took time and patience to get my wild hair under control! LOL Now that I'm older I realize the bigger the hair the better!!
Ive been getting my hair blow dried, pressed, curled, flat iron ever since I could remember. During the summer months I just hated trying to maintain my straight roots (i sweat a lot in my head). the slightes wave or curl on my edges i was breaking out the hot comb
sadly i was one of those young girls that believed straight hair is better hair....
i started to wear my hair in its curly state during my junior year in highschool. but only has a ponytail because i didnt know how to maintain my hair when it was out back then. i used to have shirts dripping wet bc thats the only way i thought i could keep the curl in my hair. i remember going to my stylist and she would wash my hair and complain about all the gunk in my hair from the JAM i would use to lay my hair down. LOL that stuff used to cake-up in my hair SO bad she had to wash/strip my hair to get it 'clean'.
it wasnt until last year that i decided to look into wearing my hair natural. ive found such great information here and naturallycurly.com
i'm still in my PJ phase wanting to try every product i see and read about....i have a few favs so far:
Aussie Moist-Cowash
KCKT-leave-in/detangler
ecostyler-krystal and olive oil
oils- castor, jojoba, EVCO, EVOO, vitamin E
i'll do my best to keep you ladies updated!!!
Muaah!!

WNG...with cantu leave-in. this is when i thought my hair had to be dripping wet

once i started wearing my natural curl pattern i didn't know about protecting my ends so....this lead to my stylist cutting off a lot of my hair because the ends were so damaged

when straight my hair is just above BSL...after the cut it was SL. since ive stopped putting heat in my hair its grown back since and its a lot fuller.

this is the most recent pick...
braid out
i detangled with KCKT
applied ecostyler olive oil gel and sealed with JC NS

Re: Short~n~Sweet...Journey of Natural Goodness
ok hello everyone!
so my products from curlmart finally came in and i had some shea moisture products i picked up from target over the weekend as well. yes i'm a serious PJ
::hangs head in shame:: LOL !! annyyyywhooo...so this is what ive tried thus far:
shea moisture deep treatment masque
myhoney child honeynutt scalp cleanser
blended beauty curl styling butter
shea moisture coconut & hibiscus moisture spray
first on the list is the shea moisture masque. ive heard such great things about it and i finally decided to give it a whirl. this was not my fav. ill have to tweak it a little and try it again. i didnt care for the smell and it didnt have enough slip for me because i like to detangle while its in my hair. i added some honey but ill try putting in a oil next time. next is the blended beauty curl styling butter. kinda pricey but a little goes a long way. my strands are fine but i have a LOT of them. it smells really nice and my curls have never been softer. i had to add some ecostyler olive oil gel for some hold. if you want a good moisturizer this is a good one. it doesnt offer much for definition and hold. but with the eco gel my curls were still very soft and defined as opposed to using the krystal ecogel. then finally the shea moisture spray. this is probably the best product ive come across from their line. the curl enhancing smoothie is ok...i just havent been 'wow'd' yet
wht works for some doesnt work for all....i use the moisturizing spray as a refresher in the moring after i take down my pineapple.

here's a wash n go...
i co-washed last night with aussie moist
applied BB curl butter and eco olive oil gel
sealed with coconut oil
disclaimer: yes im at work in this pic lol

Re: Short~n~Sweet...Journey of Natural Goodness
hello all!!
i did a little experimenting over the weekend. i posted a topic about MyHoneyChild and i was very pleased. i pre-poo'd with avocado oil for about 10 mins. then i cleansed with the honeynut cleanser. DC'd with honey hair mask and did a hot oil treatment with grape seed oil (love this stuff). after about a hour i cold rinsed. i had some curl keeper in the closet and decided to bring that out. ive been having some trouble with frizz mostly at the crown.
i usually pineapple at night so idk but anywho..
so i moisturized with coconut milk and applied my own version of eco custard:
ecogel (olive oil)
AVG
avocado oil
castor oil
jojoba oil
i did bantu knots. it had great definition. i need a little more practice bc where you "place" your knots are crucial. less malipulation = less frizz here's a pic

the knots were a little damp so i had to diffuse for a bit. they werent as tight as i wanted them. but like i said i needed more practice.
the next day i applied more coconut milk and did six chunky twist. three on each side. i refreshed with shea moisture nourish and shine mist...here's a couple pics

Have a Fabulous Day

Hey girl! You have some really pretty hair! Is it easy to rinse oils out of your hair with cold water? Welcome to Curl Street!

Re: Short~n~Sweet...Journey of Natural Goodness
That's good to know, I have almost an entire bottle which I had previously purchased to use to flat iron my hair. Needless to say it just been sitting. And sitting. And sitting... Lol.

Re: Short~n~Sweet...Journey of Natural Goodness
good stuff...you should try it!! i poured 2tbs into a sandwhich bag and warmed it in some hot water in the sink then applied to my twist ( i twist my hair in four sections after appliying the dc and detangle) concentrating on the ends...let me know how you like it!
