Has Anyone Ever Made Flaxseed Gel?

Post by hopefulcurls on 2nd March 2011, 1:54 pm

Okay, so I made my own flaxseed gel using youtube's Naptural85's recipe. The only difference is I used a few drops of vitamin E skin oil & tea tree oil from walmart. After using these 2 the scent is kind of strong, and I am not sure if I want to use it anymore. I think the strong scent comes more from the vitamin E than the tea tree oil. My questions are: do you think it is safe to use? Has anyone ever used spring valley's vitamin E skin oil from walmart on their hair?

You sure its not the Tea Tree.. I never used that brand but I never had a problem with Vitamin E smelling stong.. Tea Tree is more for the scalp and it might be drying to the hair esp if you are using it as a gel.. Now that smells strong a lady here at work was putting some on her elbows and she like to ran us out of this office.. lol Make another batch if you don't want the Vitamin E skip that but I would also skip the Tea Tree..

I think it's the Tea Tree. I was in Whole Foods the other day smelling a bunch of essential oils (I ended up not choosing any lol) but one that I distinctly remember was the Tea Tree. Whew!!

I've made one batch of Flaxseed Gell using Naptural85's recipe and have been using it for 3+ weeks. I love the hold, shine, and it keeps my edges in place. I used a lil Vitamin E oil and jojoba oil, it doesn't smell like anything.

Soybean, Vitamin E, Coconut oil- in that order.

Okay. It is the the tea tree oil...that stuff smells serious! LOL! I will use it just to see how it turns out bc I don't want to waste it. Maybe the tea tree oil will help out my scalp issues! Cross your fingers for me. I may skip that step next time--it was just the only eo I could get my hands on at the time.

Tea tree oil has to be diluted with other oils. While in it's pure form the sent could be very strong. I would ask how much flax see gel you made, and how much tea tree oil you added
