How long does your hair have to be to do two-strand twists or twist/braid outs?

Hi kiki

I have a twa and I didn't start doing two strand twists until recently. I have 4 in on the top and 3 in on the side and back. As long as you have enough to grab then you can twist. I've see videos on you tube that people with shorter hair two strand twist.

I hope this helps Smile

Hey kiki,

I have about 2-3 inches all around and I attempted a 2-strand twist/out this past weekend. I think I had about maybe 20-25 twist. I twisted on blow dryed hair. When I took them out, though, it looked quite atrocious to say the least Crying or Very sad . With a little sprucing up and a lot of picking at the roots to fill in the spaces it came out decent.

This is what the twist out looked like after I fussed with it for a while

I pinned the sides back.

I will not be attempting this again, though for a few months maybe until I have more hair to grab. Plus, it takes more time than I care to spend right now...HTHs! Very Happy

I would think you just need to have enough to grab, but the shorter it is, the more manipulation/fluffing at the roots you have to do to cover up the parts.

Thanks ladies. I just hope it doesn't look crazy on me. How long am I supposed to keep them in before I take them out? Is it better to do it on wet or dry hair?

I started doing braidouts on about 3-4 inches of hair when I had a twa. I do braidouts on wet hair to get more definition and removed them once my hair was dry the next day. With twists you may want to leave them in a little longer to get more definition.

Hey Kiki! Very Happy

I've been doing two strand twist since my BC (see my fotki) and I only and about an inch and half of hair. As for how long to leave them in....the long the better definition you'll get. Also, when your hair is short, the more twist you do the better it looks. I would suggest doing them on wet hair. HTH

Lately I've been doing my twist out on dry hair, and keeping them in for a week. When I did twist out on wet hair I waited until the next day to take them down if I really wanted to wear my hair out.
